Improvement: General code rewrites and script replacements using much modern solutions;
Improvement: Added new CSS & JS assets management system. The assets have been split into multiple, much smaller pieces and loaded only on demand, when in use, combined and minified. This should cut assets sizes by over 50%. Also, Rey’s JavaScript is now deferred by default.
Improvement: Added new Customizer options panel called Performance settings, with a few options such as disabling Gutenberg editor styles and more. Most likely most pages don’t use those styles so it’s best to just keep them disabled. You can also enable them back individually per page.
