MainWP Piwik Extension v4.0.3

You can check your subsite's Piwik data in the MainWP dashboardMainWP Piwik extension. It adds a puzzle to your main control screen that allows you to track Piwik data.

Why use Matomo (formerly Piwik)?

We can't explain it better than Matomo on their privacy page, but I'll highlight some of the most important points for our users.

"If you use Google Analytics on your website, not only does Google know all the IP addresses (and other browser-unique identifiers) of your website visitors (and the pages they view on your website), but because most other Websites all use GA (or other Google product), and Google will know, for example, the other 6 websites the person visited earlier in the day and the 367 websites he visited in the last month.” Because more than 60% of the Websites all use Google Analytics, Google Adsense, or other Google products that use tracking beacons -- "only 36.5% of the web doesn't use Google" -- and Google can create a very accurate picture of most websites visited by any given user.

"Piwik is the foremost self-hosted, privacy compliant, decentralized, modern and free (GPL licensed) online analytics platform, the cornerstone of the open internet." By using Piwik and specifying some of the options outlined in this guide, you can Make sure all your valuable information is private and held by one person (you!) and that your website respects the privacy of your visitors.
